What are the requirements for an Orange International Certificate (OIC)?

• Seed lot must be a unique lot number which has not been used previously or will not be used again for an OIC.
• Seed tested must be of a species listed in Table 2A part 1 or part 3 of the ISTA Rules.
• Sample must be officially drawn by an authorized ISTA sampler.
• The Seed lot shall not exceed the quantity indicated in column 2 of Table 2A, subject to a tolerance of 5% in except to seed pellets, seed granules, seed tapes or seed mats.
• The seed lot shall be in marked/labeled containers which are self sealing, sealed (or capable of being sealed) or under the control of the sampler.

How do I use ODA’S ISTA Samplers?

• Contact Agri Seed for Sampling Request form.
• Properly fill out the Sampling request form and fax/email
  to Agri Seed.
• Once Agri Seed approves the sampling request, sampling request will get faxed to ODA.
• If sampling request is sent early in the morning, ODA will sample the same day of the request otherwise the next day. If the sampling request is sent on Friday afternoon, sampling will be done the following working day.
• ODA is responsible for submitting the officially drawn sample to the lab, unless otherwise requested. Samples are submitted the same day of sampling or the following morning. When samples are sampled on Friday, samples may not be submitted to Agri Seed until the following working day.

How do I become an ISTA Sampler?

In order for a sampler to become an authorized ISTA sampler for AST (not including ODA samplers), sampler must meet the following requirements:

• Attend an ISTA sampling workshop. Sampler must provide proof of ISTA workshop attendance.
• Pass AST’s sampling quiz.
• Provide 1 check sample
• Once sampler has accomplished the above requirements, sampler and QA Manager will fill out, sign and date the Authorization for ISTA Sampling form.
